This is actually the 2nd time we purchased this typewriter thinking that the first one we got was a lemon. The 2nd one was just as bad if not worse. The letters did not type completely and it definitely did not erase well at all!! Unfortunately we were looking for something local...we didn't have time to order something else. I ordered it online but picked it up in the store. Ultimately we could not use it and returned it for full credit!!
If I could have given it NO Stars I would have!!

The delayed printing is very , very aggravating. This typewriters response is too slow!!!

Based on other reviews, it looked like this was the right choice for an 80+ yr old who needed a classic, low-tech typewriter. Unfortunately, this Brother was not the right choice for her. The typewriter did not come with a manual. Even after I printed the manual and mailed it to her, she still had difficulty with it. So after sitting idle for weeks and having printed the equivalent of 1/2 a page, she now has an IBM manual typewriter that she was able to use straight out of the box.
I can't speak to the quality of this typewriter. It may be fine. Unfortunately, the Brother was not the right choice for this particular user. So, it's probably going to end up at a garage sale or donated like new.

The typewriter itself is good! It works as expected except for the correction aspect. I can't figure out how to get the correction ribbon in correctly and the instructions are terrible at instructing how to do it!! :/
